According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), roughly nine children under the age of five years old die every year due to strangulation from window coverings with cords. From January 2009 to December 2021, there were more than 200 occurrences involving children up to the age of eight years old due to strangulation dangers from window covering cords. Nearly half of those children died, the remaining children suffered severe injuries including scarring around the neck, quadriplegia, and permanent brain damage.
